Deus Vult!

Postby Suetonius Paullinus » Sat Mar 10, 2012 8:38 pm

A Fireforge plastic Teutonic Knight:

I just got the figures today so please excuse the rushed paintjob.
I'd rather have used transfers since my freehands are cr*p. Unfortunately the transfers I've found online are just as expensive as the figures themselves :?

Also I got a bit carried away when doing the weathering (was listenening to the footy- sorry).

All in all I am very pleased with the figures. Especially when considering it is only their first release!
Renedra certainly done their bit to help making this a brilliant starter 8-)
I am looking forward to seeing this company developing over the next couple of years!

Cheers

Wow SP I love this, really stunning treatment, the free hand looks spot on to me, the 12th century didnt have mass production or computer design so a bit of freehand sometimes looks more authentic in my opinion.

That looks great! Full of movement and drama...have to agree with Mikeland, the freehand looks 'fresh'.
Is this a new army then?

That is a pretty cool Knight, I'm really looking forward to their templar releases, but love this Teuton's helm...very nice!
As for the hand painted cross, looks pretty convincing to me..I wouldn't be able to that  So I'll have to pay for a transfer sheet!

Thank you for your comments gents :)
I don't think I will start a new army as such but I was keen to find out what those figures are like.
I will now definitely buy the other boxes at Salute 8-)
Maybe start of a little crusade later this year..
Fireforge seems to be quite ambitious and passionate about the period so I am hoping we will see infantry and enemies as well.

For now I will go back to my phalanx and BAM British.
Then more Zulus!

I'd say they fit in very nicely with Perry/ Warlord.
The horses are definitely smaller than GWs Bretonnians.

Hope this helps

I usually like to see historically accurate stuff on models, but after reading that many of the mounted men at arms in the Holy Land ended up on mules and donkeys due to their destriers and even palfreys dying en route, I'm not sure how far I want to push it. If I end up collecting a crusaders force I don't see myself being happy with donkey cavalry.
