More WW2 15mm

M4A2 Sherman 76mm:

Turret star painted out by nervous crew because (a) that's what they did, and (b) the hand painted one didn't come out as well as I wanted :p The colours in the photo look a bit wrong to my eyes, maybe it's the flash, but in natural light it looks ok. Model from Plastic Soldier, crew and stowage by Skytrex, hedgecutter from FoW.

And some Skytrex infantry:

Skytrex (4 on left), Peter Pig and FoW figures for comparison:

I think I am going to go with Skytrex - Peter Pig are nice poses but a bit small, and FoW have big heads. These won't be the final bases, they are impossible to handle. I have a load from Warbases on order.

Really good stuff.
What colours did you use on the Sherman?
How did you find assembly, I quite enjoy putting them together but have seen that some people experience problems?
Might be missing a part of the comparison photo. I quite happily mix BF, CD, FiB and Essex in my armies the PP I have are a bit small but their newer sculpts are larger so should fit in better. I'm not too keen on the plastic offerings so far.
Now what you mean about the FoW bases they may look good but you can't grip them so end up picking up by the figures. I'm not using FoW sixes anyway so switching to MDF was a no brainer which I get from Warbases or Pendraken. Are you using FoW sizes, if I did I'd certainly use the Warbases versions?

I used Tamiya Olive Drab, oversprayed with the same mixed with a bit of white. The underside of the Sherman had a light spray of Tamiya Dark Earth. Then a wash of GW Devlan Mud and drybrushed with various shades ending up with GW Bleached Bone, and very light Boltgun Metal over the edges of the tracks.

Didn't have any real problems with the assembly so far, just have to make sure to test fit every piece first and it's all good. The very thin parts like machine guns are extremely fragile. For the main force I don't intend to use the Plastic Soldier stuff, most of it will be BF with CD figures. These were nice and cheap to try out the paint schemes on.

From what I've seen with the figures so far you can mix PP and CD, or CD and FoW, but if you mix PP and FoW the size difference is a bit much. The comparison photo shows 2 CD figures, then 2 CD again, then a PP and a BF on the same base - it's a bit small to really get a full impression though.

And yes I'm going to use FoW base sizes, but I plan to use this stuff with KGN rules, at least to begin with.

I like it, I like it I say.
