WIP Jönköpings Regemente Update

Postby Johnnie » Sat Sep 03, 2011 2:56 pm

Here are one of my soldiers of Charles XII. The uniform is painted in Jönköpings regiments uniform around 1700-1709.

The mini is from Zvezdas Great northern war range which also covers Russian soldiers under Tsar Peter.
THe scale is 1/72. I have around 10 marching poses and 10 advancing poses of musketeers. To the regiment I will also add 8 grenadiers, 10 pikemen, 2 Standards, 2 drummers and a couple of officers.

Nice Paintwork, will you base them in groups or single?

I remember the Zvezda material being fairly hard. Would the colour be safe or come off from thin parts?

I will base them in groups on Perry Miniatures bases.

With rough handling I think paint on the musket and Officers pike will come off. Especially if bent. My minis will be safe as they will stand in my cabinet amongst my other figures.

Cheers

Lovely banner! It's nice to see Caroleans in something other than blue and yellow. The regiment's earlier uniform colors (grey with red facings) looked pretty good too.

One of the reason I choose to paint them in Jkpgs Uniform. I also live close to the city itself. See if I paint another regiment in Blue/white after these are done.

Yeah, I liked the earlier uniform too. But It's hard to find soldiers in that earlier coat. The closest thing must be Wargames Factorys War of the spanish succession miniatures.

That's really lovely work, especially given the scale. My top tip for protecting the paint on thin bendy parts like pikes and muskets, is to brush a couple of coats of PVA or woodglue over the fragile bits before varnishing. It gives a flexible shield that wears well and hopefully means you aren't repainting every couple of weeks!

My mobile paintstation. I have a larger one like this but it is clumsy and full of tools to so I thought I'd buy a smaller and more easy to handle. Now I don't have to run all over the place to fetch paint in the other room Easier to get the stuff out of the way to
