Well, that's simply the Roman detachment p.134 of the WAB base rulebook.
- General with light armour & warhorse - 141 pts
- 16 regular legionaries including centurian, musician & std bearer - 276 pts
- 16 regular legionaries including centurian, musician & std bearer - 276 pts
- 5 auxiliary cavalry - 100 pts
- 10 auxiliary infantry with light armour including leader & std bearer - 110 pts
- 10 auxiliary archers with light armour - 90 pts
- Total = 993 pts
As I have the 10 cavalry box, I guess I'll replace one of the riders by a leader to make it 998 pts.
@Jim :
I think that the celtic warband p.135 could be done cheaply too (Warlord lacks a mounted std bearer, though), provided that we'd use two boxes of plastic celts and use 20 of them to impersonate the fanatics in the list (since it's made of 40 warriors + 20 fanatics) instead of the dedicated fanatics minis. Two boxes of chariots with a female warrior (the A one ?) to use as Boudica (or Bodicea, or whatever you prefer to call her
), the cavalry box and ten slingers.
That might be a good idea. I have a few friends who play WFB, and two such "demo/test" armies could be used to lure them to WAB
