Legionaries

Well, that's simply the Roman detachment p.134 of the WAB base rulebook.

  • General with light armour & warhorse - 141 pts
  • 16 regular legionaries including centurian, musician & std bearer - 276 pts
  • 16 regular legionaries including centurian, musician & std bearer - 276 pts
  • 5 auxiliary cavalry - 100 pts
  • 10 auxiliary infantry with light armour including leader & std bearer - 110 pts
  • 10 auxiliary archers with light armour - 90 pts
  • Total = 993 pts

As I have the 10 cavalry box, I guess I'll replace one of the riders by a leader to make it 998 pts.

@Jim :

I think that the celtic warband p.135 could be done cheaply too (Warlord lacks a mounted std bearer, though), provided that we'd use two boxes of plastic celts and use 20 of them to impersonate the fanatics in the list (since it's made of 40 warriors + 20 fanatics) instead of the dedicated fanatics minis. Two boxes of chariots with a female warrior (the A one ?) to use as Boudica (or Bodicea, or whatever you prefer to call her Wink), the cavalry box and ten slingers.

That might be a good idea. I have a few friends who play WFB, and two such "demo/test" armies could be used to lure them to WAB Innocent

Boadicea. Not Boudicca or any of that revisionist nonsense - Boadicea ;)

Thanks Grignak - we'll get that up as an army deal this week!

Cheers,

Paul

G'day Grignak,

Yeah I was thinking about that list from the WAB rulebook. But couldnt decide whether to get the dedicated fanatics or just use warriors without their shirts. The aussie dollar and the long haired general (and I dont mean Boadicea) may dictate the army list.

My regular FOW gaming opponent is currently organising his large collection of epic models into four armies. And Intend to do the same for WAB. However, we are currently geographically dispersed and as such motivation disperses proportionaly. Once he had dragged his epic models out he found that he had 41.5kg of epic eldar infantry alone!

Cheers,

Jim

Well, at about 75€, that army deal really is unbeatable. Great way to start the hobby. Thanks to you Smile

After two plastic units, here are my archers :

Western archers

This time it went pretty fast (no shields, to start with), at least by my standards.
