Albany Rd in Cardiff is a great little shopping street, full of old-fashioned small time stores and curiosity shops. When I was a student living in the area there was one famous incident where the police were called in the middle of the night because of a break-in at Woolworths.

It was the work of a master criminal (drunk tramp) who in his inebriated haze had mistaken Woolies for the Kwik-Save supermarket a couple of shops down, them both having red front signs. He had wanted to steal all the booze from the Off Licence section, but had instead found himself in a decidedly alcohol free zone. When the police arrived he was glumly shoving as many 'Pick & Mix' sweets down his gob as possible before he was dragged off.

Long long ago there was a miniature shop in Berlin , named Der Bunte Rock. One morning David, the owner, came in and found that a burglar had been there in the night.
The police had an easy job. It must have been hot work so he took his Parka coat of. He forgot it, together with his wallet. Including more money than he found in the shop and his passport.

:shame

(I had to use that lovely new one)

I work on a Naval base and run the accomodation blocks and keep them up to scratch for the matelots. I could fill a book with some of the stuff I've experienced while I've been working there. Things like:Matelot - "The fridge isn't working." Me - "have you tried switching it on at the mains?"
Or the classic "Theres no bedding in my cabin."
Me - "Have you chacked in the locker."
Matelot - "Theres a padlock on the locker."
Me - "Have you tried the padlock key we gave you along with the cabin key when you joined?"
Matelot walks away looking very sheepish...........

And these people are charged with the defence of our country? :shame

I don't think so, normally these modern posts have a keylock to remove them. :shrug

Not those type, they look to be the ones just sunk into concrete. In the UK the silver coloured ones can be folded down with a key, or they automatically sink down when certain vehicles want to get through.
