I'm selling the Baden haube as well as a Prussian EM ersatz haube.

Well that certainly was a massive win... And the right guy got the SS helmet it seems!

Lovely haul... I agree with others, love a picklehaub... nearly bought some Franco prussian war from foundary cos of them.

Yup - gotta love the hauben.

Actually - there is a chance it will be going to a town in France that was between the Western front and the Siegfried line. So, it'd would be king of going home.

There was nothing like a Pickelhaube in the German armies. :ugeek: That's street slang of the worst. Or todays popular knowledge in Germany, that's the same. :?

The real name of these items was: Lederhelm mit Spitze (Leather helmet with spike)

Pickelhaube is a joke word, a haube is a piece of head garment that is closed below the chin, with two openings for face and neck. In 19th centure mostly associated with female dress!
Later also used for the bikers leather hood, but thats a real haube, being closed under the chin. :ugeek: :ugeek:

My dad had one as a toy when he was a boy in the forties, if you don't like that name you won't like the name sh!tpot based on the fact you could if you wanted to use it as a chamber pot at a convieniant level with the spike in the ground.
