Oh, I think there are quite a few of us in that boat. I also have no club in my town, and can't really find a like-minded bunch near enough me to make it worth-while. I've become more solo-gamer than I ever was, and only occasionally attend game-related events now.
The majority of my gaming-fixes come from solo gaming and web-forums now. Revel in it- enjoy the freedom, and wait for new friends to pop up.

Feeling your pain, Grant!

Made a friend a year ago who's been living down the block for the past 7 years. He had a great job oppertunity and off he went. Just my luck  .

Still, very lucky to have recently fallen in with a GREAT group of guys with a large range of games who meet frequently.

Hang in there my man, especially with the possible move. You ever hear anything on those layoffs you were talking about? Hope you made the cut.

I voted to give your stuff away. That was just if you sent it all to me though....

I tried to look for Cubster's "Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!" picture of Luke, but couldn't find it. Don't get rid of those minis*, Grant - I kick myself when I think of what I've virtually given away. You never know when you might use 'em, and if you've got the space ... heck, if someone moves on like that, there may be others moving nearby ...
On the subject of PC wargames, you could do worse than trying DBA online - it's not HC, but it's almost exactly the same as DBA - tactically, exactly the same, with some slight mods to a few of the armies. Fast, easy to use ... at least keeps you playing!

*Unless it's the Wings of War stuff, which you can give to me, please!

Thanks for all the sentiments!

It's going to be a busy weekend as I sort out stuff to sell. I can't get rid of some stuff.

For 6mm, I only am a fan of GHQ honestly. Their quality is the envy of the modern world! I wish they would do other periods in 6mm...

Anyway, the next few weeks should be interesting!

I feel your pain Grant - really - I do.

It took me 15 years to find the two guys I'm able to game with (about once every 4 or 5 months) and schedules prevent much from happening. We did find a fourth, but he is now being transferred.

Now these other two guys...well, they are primarily interested in modern warfare (WWII - futuristic wars). Getting them to do something like Ancients, ECW, Colonials, etc. is about as easy as having trying brain surgery.

Don't give up - solo gaming isn't all that bad. As someone else pointed out - at least your guaranteed a win!! :D

Well I've got an idea for Solo gaming on how to make it more interesting .This is something I will be doing as I like to Solo Wargames occasionally. I am getting together a very big WW2 Russian Tank army. In fact I am collecting a Medium Tank brigade ,a Heavy Tank Brigade and a Assault Gun Regiment . Ok I know what you are thinking at this point Megalomania but I already have been buying up many of the Heavy tanks and Assault guns in sales and paid around £2.00 GBP per model, That is cheap very cheap . This will be a big force mainly composed of plastics to keep the cost down . I will be pitching against it a smaller German force and each tank will be numbered ( as the Germans did) and this force will be "mine" to control . I intend to award a kill ring for my German tanks for every Soviet tank they knock out and provided they survive the battle. I know it sounds a bit :geek: or even :ugeek: but I think it will provide me with hours of entertainment and If my son or anyone else wants to join in fine. This way I will form my own tank aces :ugeek: :ugeek: Yes the wargames board will look a little cluttered but this is what it was like in parts at Kursk as you had nearly 9000 tanks and armoured vehicles battling out in real life in a relativley small area.

And the rules yes its got to be Battle Group Kursk of course ;)

I am not saying for one minute you must rush out and buy new models in 20mm but I am aware thay you had or did have some micro tanks that could be formed into armies. I am sure a similar set up to the above is easily achievable in this scale.

What I am saying however is don't get rid of your Micro Tanks ;)

Good ideas - my micro stuff will be perfect for this as the hordes of Soviets will be coming for the Canadians!
