World's Highest Battlefield

Postby grant » Tue Jun 12, 2012 6:02 am

Thought this might be of interest - imagine wargaming this scenario where crevasses, avalanches, and extreme weather are just as dangerous as the foe!

Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

Reminds me of this....

Favourite part: the first commenter/the uploader's rant about "DELATE EVERY SPAMM" - full of win.

I know it's a world away in height, but we've been to the Dolomites in both summer and winter, and getting to the top of some of the peaks and finding trenches, tunnels, gun emplacements, etc, is a pretty sobering thing. It's hard enough to climb up there without having to fight as well; goodness only knows what it must be like in the high passes between India and Pakistan - it's hard enough to breathe when you're at 12000', never mind these altitudes.

The Kokoda campaign in WWII was fought across the Owen Stanley Ranges at over 13,000ft. That is above cloud level. Full-on jungle warfare in the clouds.
