And so it ends. I have become a ... solo wargamer.

Found out today that my regular gaming buddy, the one who worked together with me in eatablishing a gaming calendar, a plan - has been transferred.

So that's it for me. The local club only plays Warmathings.

I WILL be eBaying this weekend - FoW, Wing of War WW2, Heavy Gear Blitz, Lord of the Rings. It's going to be a blowout. Screw it!

It's a sad day day. 6mm is looking more appealing if only because I can solo game bigger games.

A sad day indeed.
Take car. Go to Mum's. Kill Phil - "Sorry." - grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

Certainly not particularly good news
But hey, you're not alone!
This happened to me and I focussed on collecting and painting ever since.
Hard to find time for gaming anyways and being 25+ yrs older than all wargamers in this area of the county sucks as well.
I enjoy my solitude 8-)

Be strong!

Cheers

Solo wargaming isn't really that bad.

I still occasionally play it . These are the only games I win

It allows me to break off from the game whenever I want.

Another option would be to go more into the modelling side of things and produce high quality cabinet standard minis .

You could try and search out other gamers within your area and then form a gaming group. It wasn't that long ago we all used to play WAB in Brian's ( local wargames store owner and club chairman) kitchen on a Wednesday night.

Surely its not all doom and gloom. :?

The good news is no one has voted for stamp collecting

I'm in a similar boat. I've a wargaming club fairly close by but they're a closed club who don't respond to contact and requests. Even internet forum registration is by prior request.
In the face of the lack of a game I'm currently painting up the Warhammer Dwarfs I got at cost from a PO'd indy stockist and stripping and repainting my Battle Sisters so I can play at my local GW. Maybe there I can find a few people that fancy a bit of the other.

Wow, that's tough. I know that some clubs can be wary of new members. The tough bit is getting that first contact - not that I'm suggesting you hand around the surrounding bars on the off chance you understand

Yeah, it's a bit crap to tell the truth. They say they welcome new members but they just don't want it to happen. I wouldn't mind if they said they were closed but to go out of their way to say they aren't... No point in dwelling on it, if they don't want me I'll take my ball elsewhere.

The GW thing I don't mind at all and it's making me nostalgic. Last GW game I played was LotR which wasn't classic GW stuff so dealing with 40K and Fantasy models again is making me happy. I got a naughty pdf version of the fantasy rules and Dwarf book to get a legal list going and decent option choices and was stunned to find I had enough Dwarfs to have a 800pts list so it's not costing me a great deal of money. Battle Sisters are seriously making me nostalgic, every time I lay a brush on one I'm transported back to the first Sisters box I bought in the Virgin Megastore in Edinburgh. I was on ebay looking for a few Sisters to fill the corners and found them to be silly money so I could sell them and buy a slave to play BA with when it comes out...
