http://www.castlewales.com/gwrych.html
A bit run down as no-one seems to know who owns it.
It was bought by an American tourist whilst on holiday several decades ago, and no-one has been able to trace them or any heirs since.
The council is talking about issuing a compulsory purchase order, if only to clear out the teenagers who break in to perform nefarious activities...

I'll buy it, but only if we can add some vowels to the name. Maybe Castle Grouch instead.

Au contraire, you need to remove vowels and replace them with 'W', 'Y' and lots of 'L's. Then practise torturing your tongue around inside your mouth whilst blowing air through odd bits of it.

Tis too true. I used to work in a school with a woman who was consulted by the authority in charge of setting down Welsh words in the dictionary, whomever they may be. They would literally phone her up and ask for the Welsh word for some difficult thing or other and she'd tell them she'd do some research then get back to them. Then she'd make something up and tell them that's what it was. I kid you not, she just made it up most of the time, from other bits of words that seemed logical.

Brilliant. You wouldn't get away with that anywhere else. It's tough to learn, Welsh, but mostly you just go with the flow and no-one questions the simplicity of it all. It's like, the Welsh for 'mouse' is 'llygoden' (roughly phonetically - thlee-god-den). So the Welsh for 'rat' is 'llygoden fawr' (thlee-god-den vow-er)... literally 'big mouse'!
