What army are you building for Pike and Shotte

Hi mikeland,

Existing army is the remainder of my Royalist army (4 Regiments of Foote and 3 of Horse with a couple of guns), originally for 1644 rules, a split of Foundry and Redoubt.
Have bought and am currently working my way through another 16 Regiment of Foote, about 120 or so cavalry includes dragoons and cuirassiers (probably more but I haven't added it all up after recent purchases) and quite a few pieces of artillery. There's also Firelock Storming parties, forlorn hopes etc... Really looking forward to the ECW coach set I saw.
Eventually I'll probably do it all I suppose. Initial plans are to build up a decent Covenanter force to play against the Royalists, then Parliamentarian, and finally Montrose, and keep expanding until I get distracted.... :roll: I've always enjoyed this period so it c an be a very long term project.

All being said I'm a Royalist at heart.

All this is to be done with my AWI and Zulu projects. Not to mention the other bits and pieces I'm working on. Also I have still managed to remain married through all of this. Roll on the '45. :D :D :D

Cheers

I began as a lurker, then began responding to others threads, when i had the confidence to be "judged" so to speak I posted my own minis/projects

Mike

p.s."judged" not so much on this Forum, but on others - PMT - Frothers.

I guess I am. Just signed up a few days ago, waiting on a box of imperial TYW models that is in the post from Maelstrom, I couldn't stand firm against their "spring clean sale". Otherwise I mainly paint Warhammer minis, mostly chaotic armies, and I'm one of the Admins on the Herdstone beastmen forum.

I'm interested in doing a fairly realistic army/bunch of soldiers, and looking forward to seeing what's contained in the box (since Warlord doesn't seem to have detailed pics of the contents, just the sprues).

Hi. :)

Hello mrtn I recognize you from the herdstone where I was a lurker. :D

After they changed the beasts book so much I gave up on the cloven hoofed ones. Still kept my 6/7e book though.

@meic
You can never have enough ECW armies! I have royalist and parliament and one box
Covenanters... Would love to see some pictures of yours sometime! And like you, I patiently await the '45.

@mrtn
Welcome to the forum.
The TYW imperial box set is a nice one, i just got myself another box of these on Saturday. Three plastic sprues of pike and shot... Enough for 24 shot and 12 pike, plus a Sargent. A plastic command sprue with musician, ensign and officer, and then five metal figures, 4 additional armoured pikemen and an excellent officer. Plus a load of extra metal hats, helmets and musket rests.
And a colour leaflet with background info and flags.

You could use this box to make a regiment of foot for either side in the English Civil War or TYW.

Hope you are able to post some pictures when you have a few painted!

@Grant: He he, what goes around comes around, eh? You're not alone in giving up on the beastmen, though personally I prefer the new book to the old ones, since I'm more into the look of the army and I like big blocks of infantry. The book makes better sense now in 8th ed as well.

@mikeland: Thanks! I'll get a thread started when I finish anything, just need to receive the models first, and find the time to paint them. Does the box include bases as well, or just the integral ones on the feet of the model?

Yes there are bases in the set, though they are a mixed sprue, I just use the individual 20mm x 20mm ones and buy additional ones from Renedra Ltd (40 20x20 for £2.50) but some people use GE style bases.

I suppose, technically I am, but I can't help thinking that lurking has such negative connotations. I prefer to think of myself as 'just browsing'. :)

Yes, browsing is a much nicer term... Any way welcome, thanks for saying hello and enjoy your browsing. :D

@ mikeland: apologies for not replying sooner, not had a chance to get near the computer for any length of time.

Love the ECW as a period, my first historical 28mm army, and never really fell out of love with it. My current collection is based on Warlord and Perry miniatures; though I also have a few Front Rank and Foundry cavalry to paint up. I'll certainly post some pictures when I can manage to get a decent camera and figure out how to post them. :oops:
What's your calling - King or Parliament?

Cheers
