Fuel Panic buying

Postby Colonel White » Fri Mar 30, 2012 9:11 am

Just wondering if things have calmed down around your neck of the woods ? It appears so here but one or two small independent garages have sold out.

It's so pathetic...
People are just mad. Prices skyrocketing.
2 out of 3 garages are completely dry and the third got no more diesel.

No strike on the horizon lol

Cheers

Well, I'm having to walk or use my push-bike. Both cars are practically running on fumes, and there's no petrol to be had here, thanks to all the idiots stock-piling tins and tins of the stuff.

OI ! I hope thats not aimed at me.

Its not all what it seems . The Jerry cans of fuel are needed to supply the 5 generators we have on sites. I normally get this on thursday every other week.

Not aimed at anyone, I just felt it was appropriate for the circumstances.

Was out on the bike yesterday and the larger garages on the main roads have either run out or have huge queues. The smaller out of the way ones are ok, since the herds of sheep haven't the imagination to find them.

The Daily Mash had a superb commentary on the situation:

The wife filled up the car the day before all this broke anyway and we usually only need to fill the car about once a fortnight, so we're just watching the madness impassively at the moment. There are plenty of 24hr garages near us so if we need to, we'll probably just pop out at crazy-o'clock at night to miss the queues.

There's only so much fuel you can cram in your car anyway, so people will get tired of it all soon enough. Panic doesn't usually last.
