It's the way that the politicians, and worse the papers and TV are completely unapologetic for their stupid advice which gets me! If they actually made an intelligent announcement about what was going on and kept people properly informed we'd have much less panics.
Personally I don't think the economic downturn would have been as bad as it has been if the news for the last five years hadn't been banner headlines of the 'credit crunch' and flashy TV graphics which only seem to have been a huge kick in the nuts to spender confidence.

apologies all, rant over!

I agree with you, BigMike! 18 months ago, if you believed the media, we were entering the Ice Age and were going to be snowbound for the rest of our lives! This year I think we had a snow shower one afternoon and that was it. In fact, they are now saying that is the reason some areas have a hosepipe ban! Sensationalist journalism instead of responsible reporting only inspires the sort of behaviour we have been witnessing at the pumps. But like you say, they never apolgise when it all goes wrong and always look for somebody else to blame. :(

Indeed hah, i heard on the tv some tory mp saying "the government gets harked at if we don't give any advise, and when we do we still get harked at" (something like that) I thought to myself, theres a difference between good advise and bad advise, give the former and there would be no problem!
