Forum meetup Badge Design thread

Postby mikeland » Wed Jan 11, 2012 5:05 pm

Okay chaps and chapeses

Here are my initial ideas for badge designs...
I really didn't know where to start so these are just to get the ball rolling, 15 years in graphic design have taught me not to be precious about my work so please feel free to comment, or suggest totally new ideas I am happy to art work up.

Notes:
I have called the forum W.G. Forum not Warlord games forum for 2 reasons, 1. we don't want to presume or be take for anything remotely resembling official Warlord Games staff, as much as we might evangelise their products lets not get carried away and be caught 'impersonating an officer' and 2. Warlord Games is a lot more characters to fit onto limited space.

The badge size is 38mm

I din't know if people want real names, user names or both on the badges... what do you think?

Mike....................Bloody fantastic...all of them...........Have to say My favourite is "A" real name and forum name a good idea........I don't want people calling me Biggus Dickus out loud all day hahahahahaha.....there will surely be a lot of sniggering ;)

Good move regarding not being taken for Official Warlord staff.............but it could be quite funny, we could go behind the lines and give ourselves major discounts  ....Where do we get our hands on the uniforms?....I like dressing up ;)..........I like being a commando too    ......please note that is quite different from "going commando"!!!

They look great! I think that I prefer A but this will be costly printer ink wise, wouldn't it? All that red! At least it would stand out. Personally I don't mind if the badge has both real and forum name on it, but then my forum name is a form of my real name aynyway. I don't really think anyone would mind it. Well done, Mike.

Mike they look great :D That is talent that is!
Forum name and real name I think wise...though I now wish mine was more witty!
I too would go for A (though highly tempted by B for its in house joke and your excellent wit :D)
For my money the weight of the wreath would sit better at the bottom rising/growing to the top of the badge.
How about a small stylised acorn at the top or bottom of the badge (held by the wreath in some fashion) to symbolise:
a) the small beginnings of our posts growing to wider/stonger friendships
b) squirrells gather acorns....most famous squirrel....TUFTY ;)

Fonts look great. Different colour each year....job sorted?
Many thanks for this work.
:D delighted

Well, being 75% sure not to go to Salute this year I should not vote. (Another reason, my car had today the 2 year official MOT check, it passed but needed a lot of work. The costs for the repairs and maintenance done today too, enough for Salute. :? But it's a modern era classic. )

I would have the Forum name and the first name on the badge. The first to be easily identified by the other members and the second to make it easy to name all the strange(rs).

Two of three badges with something Roman. Honi soit....... ;)

Well, C is inviting for the next bullet. 8-)

Being a non Tufty I should vote for the first but I realy love B.

I'd go with A, different one for each year going forward, or even each show that we do a meet up for. Who knows, maybe collectors items in years to come :D

We might need to do a little work as the badges are small and I only have an inkjet printer which might not be able to get perfect details (text looks a bit thin), but a bit of trial and error and it should be doable.

Great to have feedback guys... looks like A it is :D

@Zukuss, I will PM you my email so we can chat over details. I can beef the typeface up a bit, and I can always run off lasers and post them to you for badgerizing. (that sounds kind of like turning them into badgers, but you know what I mean).

@I.O. come on, you know you want too... thanks for the input anyway, even if you can't make it you are part of the forum and so entitled to a say... :D

It's A for me as well. And a different colour for every year sounds great, too!
But the wreath should indeed be the other way round...!
I would have preferred the Warlord 'W' as logo but maybe it does look too official after all.
Can't wait to see the finished thing.
A true badge of honour!!

Cheers
