Pith helmets

Postby Centurion Dan » Sun Feb 12, 2012 9:08 pm

Just seen some heads on the Maxmini website and thought they would work well for the British in the AZW range - assuming that the scale is the same of course ;)

My guess would be they are aimed for the Praetorian XXIV lovers out there.

True - I just wasn't sure if they are scaled the same or not.
I remember those Guardsmen when they were first released and GW did a Rorkes drift style report against the Orks. Think I've still got the issue of WD somewhere.........

It was issue 222. Loved it. Probably one of the few I wished I had kept. Loved that Hookie was the Ratling Sniper! It was also the battle report that Adrian Wood did his Orks up as dirty, gritty, and realistic, and away from the Technicolour Yawn period of the earlier 90s. I immediately reprimed and repainted my entire Ork army!

I'm going to have to dig the old ones out now and re-read the report - it was an enjoyable tongue in cheek battle.

And wasn't there an Isandhlwana style massacre at "big toof river" if I remember correctly?

There certainly was. It was one of the Games day mega displays which ended up in the old Warhammer World museum (where the shop is now). My lads managed to blag a few of the orks when it was scrapped.

Ah, halcyon days. A Friend of mine grabbed pretty much a whole army of the Pith Helmet Praetorians when GW were doing a sale (remember when they used to do those!) for next to nothing.

Did I just hear right - GW and SALE in the same sentance?
