I've been rumbled or Rubelled!!

Postby Colonel White » Fri Dec 16, 2011 11:32 am

Just ordered a full company of Motor Rifle troops for my Cold War 20mm Soviets as a present from the Mrs

Matt at Elhiem being super dooper efficient (fantastic service) posted my order out on the same day. I thought great should arrive easily before Christmas.

This morning I got a phone call from the KGB( Mrs W) saying that there is no need for her to do any more overtime as they have now caught up with their orders.

Heck- that means my Mrs will get the parcel before me and I aint going to see it this side of Christmas

Damm! I wanted to sneak a few figures out to get a head start :?

I don't have a plan B

Colonel, there's always a plan B! If your CIC is the sort of person that hides presents, watch her actions when you try to go in certain cupboards / rooms / areas, think of reasons to go in these places like putting the washing away, looking for an item / book etc and make note when she says "you cant go in there!" or if she's the type to wrap them and leave them about, wait till she's out then carefully run a scapel down the cellotape (other brands are available  ) where the seams of the paper join and then extricate the said figure(s), then seal present back up along the same creases and with a slightly smaller piece of cellotape so it's not visible and then replace present in the exact(!) same place you found (was anything half covering it / next to it, was the cupboard door slightly ajar)

You can tell I've been bad for too long ;)

Unlucky!

I ordered some Japanese for my fledgling Burma project in the Skytrex sale at the weekend. The package arrived yesterday while SWMBO was at home off sick. Fortunately it was just placed on the dining room table and I was able to move the items to the workbench without being questioned :D Could have something to do with the fortune she'd spent on the kids the previous day though

Mine's got me sussed, she asked what I wanted for my birthday and I said, shoes - shoes I ask you.

I could have had any amount of lead or resin, but she doesn't make it a challenge so I have more than enough than I need for the next 12 mths!

Hah!

Good for your Mrs.

On another note, since you are doing Cold War, I am very interested in doing the Yom Kippur war, but am having a horrendous time in finding decent models. Any suggestions? 20mm or 28mm would be fine...

@Grant Yom Kipur war is a tough one to do at the moment .I just don't think there are enough vehicle models about to do the Israelies any justice.

More realistic IMO would be the 6 day war .M3 half tracks -dozens of manufacturers. HVSS 76mm Shermans - Trumpeter/Easy Model, M48 Revell. You should also be able to obtain the French gun barrels to make Super Shermans. Centurian - Airfix kit but modified( laiden with stowage) Platoon 20 make Israeli infantry. This is one area I want to de eventually myself, but not next year as I have already passed a resolution, to not start any new periods duirng 2012.
For opposition again very easy IS3s Airfix /Trumpeter. T34/85s (tend to be dug in ) dozens of manufacturers. T54/55s many diecasts and kits.

Back to my parcel debacle- Well it happened my wife was at home enjoying a glass of wine after her lengthy overtime stint and the postman delivered my parcels into the clutches of her arms (not the postman!) . Yes I said parcels! :( Not only mySoviet Rifle company but also my Post 1946 Russian AFV encyclopedia which is a present from my brother.

Oh well I need to watch some James Bond movies and get some inspiration and see if I can locate my presents.
