Reminds me of when my Mum gave me a surprise present of a 3ft trio of resin meerkats for the back garden.

"You like meerkats don't you?" she said.
"Urm ... I don't dislike them."
"I knew you'd like it. Where are you going to put them?"
"Urm ... the shed?"
"Oh. Don't you like it then?"
"Well, it's very kind of you Mum, but ... what were you thinking? When have I ever shown an interest in any garden ornaments, let alone gigantic meerkats?"
"Well, you like animals, so I thought ... well. Shall I take them back and put them in my garden?"
"Please."

I like BoW and even met up with John from there to compare notes at this years War & Peace show. Oddly, talk of wargames was minimal since we were talking about smelly green and tan stuff.
Telly, good move of sorts, can't be bad but they were halfway there anyway with the live stuff they'd been doing. BoW is a bit over the place on coverage but if you stick to the clicky's at the top you're interested then you don't really notice the GW stuff. One thing that annoyed me was the constant FoW stuff they did for a while, felt a little puff piece like.

I know its not the tv version but there constant references to "factions" in their online review of Blackpowder put me right off.

My wife still laughs about the meerkats.

I can't stand that term "faction". It's just so Privateer Press. I hate that company. Honestly hate them. Their games became popular at my local club and turned friendly gamers into ultra-competitive d... I left club in protest and so did a large number of people, leavin just the Warmachine/Hordes players. Eventually they will wake up.

"Factions" is also horrendously overused these days, much like "space" on design shows when talking about a "room". It just becomes irksome!

Gentlemen should never game with factions in a playing space.

What about 'Faction Wars'?

I take it you don't care for Privateer Press much.

Shows how sheltered a life I live, I hadn't really heard of 'em till your post... had a look at their site and obviously not my kind of thing. Looks a wee bit derivative to me.

It's one of two system that folk often play solely to say that they don't play GW 'cos they're so L33t. AND they "use Vallejo paints, and you've never heard of them".
