We actually went to that expat shop 'Lil' Bit of Britain'. We were really out of place...the accents were flying as well as the British slang. Within minutes were were each given a cup of tea and a plate of McVitie's "The Original" Digestives and McVitie's Crawfords "Morning Coffee" Biscuits. We were also treated to a rousing conversation about going on holiday to Brighton at some hotel for 68 quid for a family of four.
There was a lot of goods from the UK.
We ended up leaving with:
Piccadilly Chicken & Mushroom pasties, as well as their Chicken pies;
The English Pork Pie Company's Pork Pie and Steak & Ale pies;
Cornish pasties;
a rather large jar of Branston Pickle;
HP Fruity;
Mama Africa's Zulu Sauce Habanero;
Colman's shepherds Pie mix;
Walkers Crisps - Tomato Ketchup; Smoky Bacon; Worcester Sauce; Steak & Onion; and Salt & Vinegar;
Parma Violets;
BarleySugars from Taveners Proper Sweets;
KitKat dark;
Cadbury Creme Egg minis;
McVitie's Dark Chocolate Digestives;
Ty-Phoo decaf tea;
and PG Tips tea.
Don't even ask the cost...
Hopefully this will last for a while.
I did look at the Jaffa Cakes, but SWMBO didn't like the idea of the orange jelly so we passed.
I did mention the Land Rover and wargaming. The owner said "your one of those", in regard to wargaming. She said she had a couple of those that came into the shop. She said they sat in the window drinking tea and trading gaming cards. I had to let her know I was into Historical mini gaming. She had no idea what I was talking about. I was surprised at that - considering the UK is the capital of wargaming!!! I then told her all about WG and told her she needed to check them out.
Anyway, it was quit fun.
