By the way, obvious oversight on my part, I've not done a helmet and liner!!!! I'm struggling to work out how to photograph the uniform bits....

Hurrah, with the new software my thread's working again!

As soon as the weather behaves I'll catch up on pictures I've not done. Medical bags and the paratrooper issued musette bag a priority.

Gday Parus Excellent reference thread mate look forward to seeing more US gear . Its very helpfull to see real kit and the actual colours.Did the americans treat any of their webbing and packs/pouches or just wear as is?

Cheers Marcus T

Cheers, buddy!
They just wore it as it is, generally. there's some data on some (pathfinders, I think) spray painting web as well as uniforms in camo but that's really it.
As you can see the colours vary wildly within the OD3 'colour' but the quality of the finish is something that marks out US web.

A very useful thread.
I cannot help thinking we now need a thread for all types of miniatures called ' Ask the sculptor' or perhaps ' what the hell is THAT supposed to be!?' as I am sure many of us have asked ourselves that question when trying to paint miniatures.

Ahem, er carry on Soldier...

Well that was my thinking, as well as allowing people to have a pop at adding things onto models that don't have them. I'm sure I'm not alone in having painted something the wrong colour and not just because it's just wrong but actually painted something leather when it wasn't or something metal when it was leather.

M-1926 Life Preserver Belt, AKA "Flotation Belt"

Not Army at all but Navy. Issued to men in transport and those performing beach assaults. The belt was worn over the top of all webbing and directed to be worn as high as possible. It could be quickly inflated by two CO2 canisters located in the two caps next to the buckle or orally inflated by the two hoses. These actually drown a number of people since if it was worn too low the weight of equipment would tun the man upsides down in the water. Many units in the Medical Corps gathered them up after D-Day to use as pillows on stretchers. Adjustable by way of a tension clip,
