War of 1812: 200th Anniversary

Postby RoughRider » Mon Jun 18, 2012 6:59 pm

Really just an off broadway side show compared to the big production in Europe but it is the 200th anniversary and there has been a bit in news and on TV about it. Does anyone on these boards wargame this War or study it at all? Seems like there is not much available for it mini-wise; I am only aware of Knuckleduster and a new release from Battlefield Game Designs.

I've studied it.

There are actually several sets of rules out there and some are free.

Would like to do an 1812 American force, not hard to do, just buy British, paint blue, done really.

But interest other than my own in the period could be measured with a single grain of sand.
It has been made very clear by members and Paul I am not welcome on this forum because I don't bend over and agree with everything warlord does.

Unfortunately I don't care what any of you think...at all.

Why not just purchase minis that are sculpted as US forces - there are plenty out there. The uniforms are similar but there are some really noticeable differences primarily in the shakos. Once you breakaway from the stovepipe shako you get into some rather interesting uniforms - there were LOTS of different uniforms. The Regulars (those with the British type uniform) were just a a part of the forces that fought.

And don't forget 15th U.S. Infantry - they used pikes!!! http://www.historicalartprints.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=332

Easy answer, cost and availability and also weight, rather have 24 models in light plastic that look American from 3 feet away than 24 metals that weigh more and look like Americans from 3 feet away.
